Hey everybody, sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you prospectives, but honestly, this is one of the first moments in the past month that I've had to just sit down and breathe. But it's a good busy; I swear.
There's been so much amazing stuff going on here over October that it's hard to list: Homecoming week, Parents' Weekend, the USC game, Halloween, oh...and midterms (not awesome, but they still happened). I'm sure you guys aren't die-hard Dores fans yet, that will come in time, but we've had several interesting football games, like when we played USC and won (who would've guessed?) and a heartbreaking defeat in the least 2 seconds against Georgia. Homecoming week at Vandy is really trippy because Alumni just pour in from all sides of the country and you get to think to yourself "Man, someday I'll be in my mid-40s coming back to 'good old Vandy' and reminiscing about the 'golden years'" but that's a long way away for both you and me.
But as I said, I've been really busy this month, if I'm not rooting on the Dores at a football game, or rushing fraternities, or hosting students for Dore for a Day (y'all should do it, it's an awesome way to see Vandy from a student's perspective) than I've been studying for midterms. It's important to remember that although everyone here is really involved, they are also really committed to schoolwork (this is a Top 20 University after all!) On that note, I'd just like to say that classes here are amazing; the professors are phenomenal, the content is really interesting, and the students are really involved. I think that's the really big thing about coming to a private, middle-sized university like Vandy, you really do get something out of each and every class.
So, like I said, although I haven't had a chance to sit down and relax, I don't really think that's a bad thing, because I'm out making friends, joining campus organizations, and making the grades I came here to make! October has been a crazy (but really awesome month) and I really think that it epitomized life at Vandy.
I hope you all are surviving college app season, I know it was a really stressful time for me last year. Just keep these two things in mind: first, this too shall pass; and second, you'll get into the school where you belong, so don't lose hope!
Signing off,
Climo
